Natural Hair Care DIYs

IMG_3792.JPG

Walk down the beauty aisle of any store and you’ll see thousands of products that claim to give you shiny, longer, healthier hair. However, upon closer inspection, you’ll see these products are chock-full of silicones, sulfates, parabens, and other nasty chemicals that give the illusion of healthier hair, but actually cause damage instead. Armed with a few simple ingredients from your local health food store (or good ol’ Amazon), you’ll be able to create your own healthy hair care arsenal, naturally. My Family’s Holistic Medicine Cabinet

When I was pregnant with my first child at the age of 22, I had NO clue about my views on natural versus conventional medicines and health care. When I was 4 months pregnant, I was teaching at a Montessori school and contracted a nasty cold with a barking cough followed by pink eye. I went to see the doctor, and she told me that the medication she needed to prescribe could possibly cause deafness to my baby. Continue reading “My Family’s Holistic Medicine Cabinet”

Our bodies are amazingly adaptable. When it gets dark, our pupils dilate to let in more light. When it’s too hot, our body sweats to lower our core temperature. When we cut our finger, the blood vessels in that area automatically narrow and the blood starts to clot. Our bodies are constantly protecting us with a series of biological changes in response to different environmental triggers. And this bio-feedback is no different when it comes to stress.
